Ford recalls 86,543 Mustang Mach-E EVs over window trim defect

Ford has announced a recall of 86,543 Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles due to a defect involving rear side quarter window glass trim. The company reported that the trim could potentially fall off while the vehicle is in motion, posing a risk to other road users.

The issue was traced back to a new assembly jig used at a Tier 1 supplier facility in Mexico. While Ford estimates that only approximately 1% of the affected 2023 to 2025 model year vehicles actually possess the defect, the recall is being conducted out of an abundance of caution. There have been 219 reports of detached trim pieces, but no accidents or injuries have been linked to the issue.

Owners will be notified via mail starting September 10, 2026. Once a remedy is available, affected customers can visit a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the trim inspected and replaced free of charge.
