Ford recalls over 1 million U.S. vehicles for safety defects

Ford announced multiple recalls affecting more than 1 million vehicles in the United States. The actions cover 177,009 Mustangs, Mustang GTD, Mach‑E crossovers, Explorer Hybrid and Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid models for windshield‑wiper, rear‑differential and pedestrian‑warning software defects, and a separate recall of over 741,000 F‑150, Explorer, Expedition, Lincoln Aviator and Navigator trucks and SUVs for a transmission park‑pawl issue that could allow the vehicle to move while in “park”.

The wiper‑motor defect may cause wipers to operate only on high speed and disable the washer system in temperatures at or below 32 °F, reducing driver visibility. The rear‑differential pinion shaft can fracture, leading to loss of drive power or unintended movement. The park‑system defect can damage the transmission parking pawl, compromising the ability to hold the vehicle when the brake is not applied. Ford reports dozens of warranty claims – 35 for the wiper issue, 62 for the differential, and 24 property‑damage allegations for the park system – but no confirmed crashes or injuries. Owners will receive free inspections and repairs at dealers.
