Ford recalls over 6,000 German vehicles due to faulty automatic high‑beam system

Ford Motor Company is recalling roughly 6,000 vehicles in Germany after a fault in the driver‑assist electronic control unit caused the automatic high‑beam lights to turn on or off unintentionally. The recall covers the Kuga SUV, the Transit, Transit Custom, Transit Courier vans and the Mustang Mach‑E electric SUV, all built between mid‑2025 and mid‑2026. The issue is traced to a software defect in the front‑camera module that governs the high‑beam function. Owners will receive a free software update at authorised service centres, a procedure that typically takes less than an hour.

The recall, monitored by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) under reference 16753R, affects 4,155 vehicles in Germany and 63,110 worldwide. No personal injuries or accidents have been reported so far. The action adds to a high number of automotive recalls in Germany, where 532 recall campaigns were recorded last year, reflecting the growing prevalence of software‑related faults in modern vehicles.
