Ford recalls over 741,000 US vehicles due to transmission park‑system defect

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced a recall of 741,195 Ford and Lincoln trucks and SUVs because a transmission defect can damage the parking‑pawl mechanism, potentially allowing the vehicle to roll away while in "Park". Affected models include certain 2018‑2021 Ford F‑150s, Ford Expeditions, Lincoln Navigators, 2020‑2021 Ford Explorers and Lincoln Aviators. NHTSA cited 24 reports of property damage and nine injuries linked to the issue.

Owners will receive mailed notifications and are instructed to bring their vehicles to a Ford or Lincoln dealer. Dealers will install a free software update to the Powertrain Control Module, inspect the transmission, and replace any damaged components at no cost. A separate recall affecting about 36,000 Bronco SUVs for unsecured fender flares was announced at the same time.

The recall follows a series of recent Ford safety campaigns and underscores regulators' focus on software‑related vehicle faults.
