Ford recalls over 770,000 US vehicles and 769 Vietnam trucks for safety faults
Ford is conducting two separate safety recalls. In the United States, the automaker announced a recall of more than 740,000 vehicles—including F‑150 pickups, Explorer and Expedition SUVs, and Lincoln Aviator and Navigator models built between 2018 and 2021—because a transmission‑control software defect can cause the park gear to disengage and the vehicle to roll unintentionally. Owners will be mailed notices and instructed to bring the vehicles to authorized dealers for a software update and any necessary part replacement at no charge.
In Vietnam, Ford is recalling 769 Ranger and Everest units (655 Everest and 114 Ranger) manufactured in Thailand for a fault in the electronic control unit that governs the windshield wiper and washer system. The defect can lead to continuous spray, weak spray, or non‑functioning wipers, reducing visibility in adverse weather. Ford has not issued a stop‑use advisory; dealers will perform the repair free of charge, typically taking eight hours or more.
Both recalls are being handled without charging vehicle owners and aim to restore normal operation of critical safety systems.
