Ford Targets 2027 Launch of $30,000 Electric Pickup

Ford is advancing an affordable electric pickup slated for production in 2027 with a target price of about $30,000. The vehicle will be built on the company's new Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform, which aims to simplify construction, cut parts complexity and lower costs. Prototypes, shown in camouflage with QR codes that link to a dedicated development website, reveal a compact shape closer to the Maverick than the larger Ranger.

Alan Clarke, Ford’s vice‑president of advanced development projects, said the effort is “a rethink of how vehicles are developed and built.” The truck has undergone cold‑weather testing in northern Michigan and other validation work, while production is planned at the Louisville, Kentucky plant that currently assembles the Escape and Lincoln Corsair. The project is seen as Ford’s answer to low‑cost Chinese EV competition and could broaden the market for electric pickups.

If Ford meets its price goal, the model could attract first‑time truck buyers and commuters seeking a practical, lower‑priced electric utility vehicle, expanding the company’s EV line‑up beyond the larger F‑150 Lightning.
