Ford tests two Hypercar prototypes at Monza for 2027 WEC debut

Ford is advancing its Hypercar program ahead of a planned 2027 debut in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). During recent testing at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, the manufacturer deployed two prototype vehicles simultaneously for the first time to accelerate development and data collection.

The prototypes feature a 5.4-liter Coyote V8 engine. Testing at Monza follows previous sessions at Paul Ricard, Portimão, and Silverstone. Drivers Nick Yelloly, Sébastien Priaulx, Mike Rockenfeller, and Logan Sargeant participated in the sessions, with Priaulx recording a notable afternoon time of 1:35.132.

Ford intends to officially present the new vehicle in Detroit in mid-November. The manufacturer has also confirmed Australian driver Matt Campbell as one of the six primary drivers for the 2027 factory squad.
