Ford to integrate Apple Maps into electric vehicle platform in 2027

Ford and Apple have announced that Apple Maps will be integrated into Ford’s upcoming Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform starting in 2027. The integration will utilize Apple’s new MapKit for Automotive SDK to provide drivers with natural language turn-by-turn directions, real-time traffic and incident updates, and location searches directly through the vehicle's interface.

The partnership includes specialized route planning features designed specifically for electric vehicles, such as battery preconditioning during transit. Additionally, Ford will use Apple Maps' road-level data to support the development of its next-generation BlueCruise hands-free highway driving technology. This data will be utilized by Latitude AI, a Ford subsidiary focused on automated and advanced driver assistance systems.

Ford plans to offer a mid-sized electric vehicle based on this new architecture with an expected price point near $30,000, combining the Apple Maps experience with the Ford App and the latest BlueCruise capabilities.
