Ford begins testing new LMDh Hypercar at Paul Ricard
Ford has commenced on-track testing for its new LMDh Hypercar at the Paul Ricard circuit in France, marking a significant step toward its competitive debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2027.
The prototype, built on an ORECA chassis, is powered by an in-house developed 5.4-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine derived from the Coyote family. Initial testing began on August 5 with a shakedown phase focused on system verification and reliability. Following this, the car moved into high-speed track tests involving factory drivers Matt Campbell and Logan Sargeant.
The driver roster for the upcoming program includes Matt Campbell, Logan Sargeant, Mike Rockenfeller, Tom Blomqvist, Sebastian Priaulx, and Nick Yelloly. While the vehicle remains partially obscured by a blue-and-white camouflage livery, technical details such as its aerodynamic profile and hybrid system integration are currently being validated through this rigorous testing program.
