Ford unveils Ranger Super Duty firefighting vehicle

Ford Australia and Deakin University, in collaboration with XL Service Bodies, have unveiled the Ford Ranger Super Duty Fire Response Unit. This custom firefighting vehicle is designed to assist first responders by providing rapid access to emergency sites.

Built on the Ranger Super Duty Super Cab, the vehicle features a reinforced chassis with a 4500kg gross vehicle mass and a payload capacity of up to 1885kg. The design includes all-weather protection for fire-suppression gear, first-aid supplies, and communication equipment. Notably, the unit utilizes solar-capable battery-powered auxiliary systems to remove the necessity for petrol or diesel generators.

The vehicle is priced from $86,490 before on-road costs. This development follows the launch of the Ford Pro Converter program in Australia and New Zealand, which provides certified converters for complex chassis and component upgrades.
