Foreign investors hit record share sales on Turkey's Borsa Istanbul

In the week ending 5 June, foreign investors sold a record $856.9 million of equities on Borsa Istanbul, exceeding the previous week's $91.1 million sale. Bond sales that week totalled $279.6 million. As a result, foreign equity holdings fell to $40.63 billion from $41.59 billion, and foreign bond holdings slipped to $14.23 billion from $14.42 billion.

During May, foreign investors bought $39.5 billion of Turkish shares and sold $40.3 billion, posting a net outflow of $0.8 billion. The top net purchases were Astor Energy ($71 million), Işıklar Enerji and Yapı Holding ($59 million each), and Koç Holding ($49 million). Net sales were led by Aselsan ($161 million), followed by Destek Finans ($148 million) and Akbank ($141 million).
