Veracruz authorities investigate human remains linked to missing journalist Roxana Guzmán

The governor of Veracruz, Rocío Nahle, confirmed the discovery of human bone fragments at a rural property in the Ixhuatlán del Sureste area. The remains are being examined by forensic specialists from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) and the Federal Attorney General's Office (FGR) to determine whether they belong to journalist Roxana Guzmán Ramírez, who was abducted on 2 June. Authorities emphasized the need for caution and urged the public to await the results of DNA testing before drawing conclusions.

Six suspects—including four municipal police officers, a woman, and a man identified as José del Carmen "N"—have been detained in connection with the kidnapping. The arrests have sparked protests and temporary road blockades by relatives demanding due process. Nahle pledged to protect the right to protest while insisting that any obstruction of federal highways would not be tolerated. The investigation remains open, and forensic analyses are ongoing to establish the identity of the recovered bones.
