Forest fire nears homes in Logades, Ioannina, Greece

A forest fire broke out on the afternoon of Saturday, July 25, in the Logades area of Ioannina, Greece. The blaze spread on forested terrain that is close to scattered residential houses.

The Ioannina Fire Service mobilised 22 firefighters, a hiking detachment of the 5th EMODE, volunteers, six fire engine units, and a water‑dropping helicopter. Municipal water trucks also supplied water to the crews. Authorities activated the Ioannina arson‑crime investigative unit to determine the cause of the fire and to implement standard fire‑control protocols.

The operation remains ongoing, with ground and aerial resources working to contain the fire and prevent damage to nearby dwellings.
