Forest fires in Bursa and İzmir brought under control

Multiple forest fires broke out in the Bursa and İzmir provinces of Turkey, prompting extensive aerial and ground operations. In Bursa, fires were reported in the Kestel district near a cement factory and in the mountainous areas near Derekızık village on the slopes of Uludağ. Helicopters were deployed to combat the flames, drawing water from the Gölbaşı Pond.

Additional fires occurred in the Yenişehir district of Bursa and the Kiraz district of İzmir. The General Directorate of Forestry (OGM) confirmed that all three major fire locations in Bursa and İzmir have been brought under control following intensive efforts by firefighting teams, aircraft, and helicopters.

Authorities have warned that the risk of fire remains high due to high temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds. Gendarmerie teams are investigating the causes of the fires in Kestel to determine if negligence or intent played a role.
