Forest fires reported in Czech Republic and Slovakia

Forest fires have been reported in parts of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In the Czech Republic, a fire affecting approximately eight hectares of mixed forest, grass, and vineyards occurred near the edge of Podyjí National Park near Popice. The fire, which lasted over four hours, was reportedly caused by a discarded cigarette butt.

In Slovakia, firefighters worked through the night to contain an extensive forest fire in the Vyšný Medzev area near Košice. While the flames were localized before midnight, emergency teams are currently using thermal imaging drones to detect hidden hotspots beneath ash and foliage. The incident involved professional and volunteer firefighting units from several regions.
