Forgotten Island brings Filipino mythology to the big screen

DreamWorks Animation has released Forgotten Island, an original animated feature inspired by Filipino culture and mythology. Set in the Philippines during the 1990s, the film follows two lifelong friends, Jo and Raissa, as they embark on a final adventure before high school graduation. The plot involves the discovery of a portal to Nakali, a mysterious island inhabited by supernatural creatures from Philippine folklore, such as the aswang, manananggal, and kapre.

The film features voice talent including Academy Award winner H. E. R. and Filipino actress Liza Soberano. To support the production of the film’s vibrant environments and characters, DreamWorks utilized technology from Lenovo. In 2025, DreamWorks named Lenovo its preferred provider for compute services, workstations, and data center solutions, utilizing high-performance computing infrastructure to manage the large-scale technical loads required for modern animation.
