Formentera resident dies following assault in Es Pujols

A 37-year-old resident of Formentera has died following an assault that occurred in Es Pujols on September 18. The victim, a Colombian national who had lived on the island for decades, had been in a coma in the intensive care unit at the Policlínica Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Ibiza.

The incident allegedly involved a physical altercation with a security guard from a local establishment. Following the fight, the man returned to his home, but his health deteriorated significantly several days later. He was eventually hospitalized with traumatic brain injuries.

The Guardia Civil has reopened the investigation to determine if the blows received during the altercation were the direct cause of death. Authorities are working with judicial police and forensic experts to examine the circumstances of the assault and the timeline between the incident and the victim receiving medical attention.
