Former AIADMK ministers C Vijayabaskar and MR Vijayabhaskar join Tamil Nadu's TVK
Former ministers of the AIADMK, including former health minister Dr C Vijayabaskar, former transport minister MR Vijayabhaskar, and veteran leader Vaigai Selvan, resigned from the party and announced they would join the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in Tamil Nadu. Vijayabaskar and Vijayabhaskar cited “wrong decisions” and a betrayal of the AIADMK’s core ideology, accusing the current leadership of secret negotiations with rival DMK.
The group, together with supporters from Pudukkottai and Karur districts, convened in Mamallapuram for a public joining ceremony. Their move follows earlier defections, including veteran member Anandan, and is presented as a principled shift rather than horse‑trading, with the ministers praising TVK chief C Joseph Vijay’s leadership and promising to work for effective governance over the next five years.
