The body of former Bangladesh Air Force Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Souri, 28, was recovered from the Turag River near Rajabari Ghat in Dhaka on Wednesday, October 28. Souri had been reported missing by his family the previous day after leaving his home in Uttara to meet a friend.

Souri was reportedly linked to the controversial footage showing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fleeing Bangladesh via military aircraft on August 5, 2024. His family has alleged that he was murdered, claiming he faced persistent harassment and surveillance due to his connection to the video. While initial suspicions suggest drowning, authorities are awaiting a postmortem report from Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigators from the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) have taken a close associate of Souri, Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dwip, into custody for questioning. Dwip was the last person known to have spent time with Souri before his disappearance. Although the military previously stated Souri was retired according to institutional rules without allegations, his family suggests his departure from the Air Force was linked to the video controversy.
