Former MP Giorgos Karameros Joins Greek Left Alliance (ELAS)

Giorgos Karameros, a former member of parliament for Eastern Attica, announced his resignation from the Syriza party and his registration as a regular member of the Greek Left Alliance (ELAS), led by Alexis Tsipras. He made the announcement on Monday, July 27, via a 47‑second video posted to his social‑media accounts. In the video Karameros boards a ferry, answers questions about traveling alone, and then completes his enrollment on the party’s online platform, myELAS. The clip ends with drone footage of a vessel bearing the ELAS logo sailing into a harbour. He said he is joining “not for a position but for the journey, together with many people.” Karameros is expected to attend an ELAS event in the town of Serafeio on Tuesday to discuss local government matters.
