Former Federal Official Sentenced to Preventive Detention in Mexico for Kidnapping

The Federal Attorney General's Office of Querétaro linked former federal employee Jorge Iván N to aggravated kidnapping and qualified robbery that occurred on 12 June 2026 in the municipality of Colón. Acting as impersonators of security and judicial authorities, he and accomplices entered a premises, abducted a victim, stole cash and valuables, and later transferred the victim to Mexico City where a multimillion‑peso ransom was demanded.

Joint operations by the Specialized Unit against Kidnapping, the State Crime Investigation Police, the Federal Security Cabinet, the Anti‑Kidnapping and Anti‑Extortion Unit of the Secretariat of Security and Protection, the Organized Crime Division, and the Federal Criminal Investigation Agency led to his arrest in Mexico City. In the initial hearing a judge ordered his preventive detention and set a three‑month period for further investigation. With this ruling, eight individuals are now formally linked to the case, following earlier arrests of seven alleged participants.
