Interim Romanian PM Ilie Bolojan faces criticism over hospital hiring freeze and economic policies

Former Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete accused interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan of blocking the posting of hospital positions, leaving more than 2,000 newly‑qualified specialist doctors unemployed. Rogobete said, “Over 2,000 specialist doctors have been left without jobs… this is not reform.” He argued that the hospitals’ acute staff shortage persists while the government freezes hiring.

Europarliamentarian Rareș Bogdan criticised Bolojan’s economic agenda, calling the reduction of the budget deficit an “accounting trick” that sacrificed the real economy. Bogdan warned that the measures have doubled inflation, raised borrowing costs, and caused the closure or insolvency of roughly 100,000 small and medium‑size firms.

Former Prime Minister Ludovic Orban blamed President Nicușor Dan for deepening the political crisis, alleging that the president colluded with PSD and the AUR‑aligned “pesedişti” to dismantle Bolojan’s government and delay the appointment of a new premier.
