Former Israeli Spy Jonathan Pollard Says Israel Must Ready for War with Turkey
Jonathan Pollard, the former U.S. intelligence analyst who served 30 years in prison for passing classified material to Israel, now an Israeli citizen, warned that Israel must prepare for a possible conflict with Turkey and Egypt. In interviews with Israeli media he said, "A next war will be against Turkey and Egypt" and warned that dealing with Turkey would be "as difficult as dealing with Iran." Pollard cited Turkey’s support for a Syrian transitional authority and its growing military presence in the region, urging Israel not to allow Turkish‑backed forces to regain control of southern Syria. His comments come amid heightened diplomatic strain after Turkey’s vocal opposition to Israel’s actions in Gaza and former Israeli prime minister Naftali Bennett’s description of Turkey as the "next Iran."
