Former Katy police officer charged with stalking and camera misuse
Former Katy Police Department officer Sergio Rodriguez has been charged with stalking and misuse of official information following an investigation into his use of the Flock camera system. Authorities allege that Rodriguez used the automated license plate reader technology to track his ex-wife’s vehicle license plate over several months, specifically between November 2, 2024, and April 2, 2025. Court documents also indicate he placed a tracking device on her vehicle.
Rodriguez was suspended and subsequently terminated from the Katy Police Department. In a statement, the department noted that the Flock system, which they utilize for crime-fighting, was the same tool used to identify and bring formal charges against the former officer. The department emphasized its commitment to protecting privacy and civil liberties through rigorous operational safeguards and digital audit systems provided by Flock Safety.
