Former Malaysian PM Muhyiddin Yassin linked to Jana Wibawa contractor list, trial testimony reveals

In a high‑court hearing related to former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s corruption trial, former finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz testified that the Prime Minister’s Office under Muhyiddin proposed a list of 54 contractors for the Jana Wibawa programme in 2020. The programme, launched during the Covid‑19 pandemic, aimed to support Bumiputera contractors. Zafrul said the list was sent directly to the finance ministry for pre‑qualification tenders, but he did not know how the firms were selected and none had approached him.

He identified specific projects: KCJ Engineering Sdn Bhd (KESB) was listed for a RM62 million road link in Negeri Sembilan; six firms were invited to bid for the Pulau Indah Circle Phase 3 project worth RM605.2 million, later awarded to Sutracom Sdn Bhd; and five firms competed for the Klang Utara police headquarters contract valued at RM141 million, ultimately recommended to Nepturis Sdn Bhd. Zafrul confirmed the contractor list originated from the PMO, not from his ministry, and that Muhyiddin never disclosed any party contributions from the companies.

Muhyiddin faces seven charges: four counts of abusing his position to solicit RM225.3 million in bribes for his party, Bersatu, and three counts of money‑laundering involving RM200 million. The trial continues.
