Malaysia Muhyiddin Yassin corruption trial
Overview
In early July 2026 a court testimony identified former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin as being linked to a list of contractors involved in the Jana Wibawa programme, suggesting possible undue influence.
Later in July, the High Court in Kuala Lumpur heard the full trial on seven corruption charges. Prosecutors presented evidence that Muhyiddin, while serving as prime minister, allegedly facilitated large contracts for private firms in exchange for cash contributions to his Bersatu party. Witnesses described payments of RM1 million and RM19.5 million that were tied to the awarding of a RM141 million project and a RM605 million road contract, respectively. The case now focuses on whether these actions constitute abuse of office and illegal gratification.
