Daniel Quintero cleared as judge nullifies Aguas Vivas charges
A Medellín judge annulled the indictment against former mayor and current health superintendent Daniel Quintero and 12 other former officials, ruling that the prosecution failed to present a clear and comprehensible charge sheet, violating due‑process rights. The decision requires the Fiscalía General de la Nación to redo the accusation, and both the prosecutor’s office and the Medellín mayor’s office have announced they will appeal.
Quintero denounced the case as a politically motivated persecution, saying it was intended to block his presidential ambitions. He announced plans to take the matter to the Inter‑American Court of Human Rights and to create a foundation to defend people he claims are targeted for political reasons.
Separately, four companies registered by Quintero—Quintero Calle Lawyers, NeuraTork Robotics, MEV Energy and Reeco Mining—were all created on the same day at the same residential address. Observers questioned the purpose of the firms, suggesting they could be used to gain extra voting power in commerce‑chamber elections. Quintero said the firms were part of a technological project, had been declared in his asset statement, and would be resumed after his public service tenure.
