Former Minister Nadiem Makarim Reports Four Jakarta Corruption Court Judges to Judicial Commission

Former education minister Nadiem Anwar Makarim, through his legal team, filed a formal complaint with Indonesia's Judicial Commission alleging ethical breaches by four judges of the Jakarta Central Corruption Court (PN Tipikor). The judges—Purwanto S. Abdullah, Sunoto, Eryusman and Mardianto—are accused of manipulating factual evidence during Nadiem’s trial, which the lawyers say was openly recorded. The complaint, submitted on 6 July 2026, includes supporting evidence and does not challenge the judges’ authority to issue rulings.

Nadiem, sentenced on 30 June 2026 to ten years’ imprisonment and a one‑billion‑rupiah fine for corruption in a Chromebook procurement case, has been in detention since September 2025. His wife, Franka Makarim, attended the submission, emphasizing the family's pursuit of justice. The Judicial Commission confirmed receipt of the report and noted its ongoing monitoring of the case since the trial began.
