Former Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas Sent to Hospital After KPK Detention Transfer

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) ordered that former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas be moved from detention to the Police Hospital in Kramat Jati, Jakarta, after doctors diagnosed severe gastrointestinal problems. His wife, Eny Retno Yaqut, said he had been suffering from constipation, upper‑abdominal pain, nausea, fever and chills for several weeks and thanked the KPK medical team for acting quickly.

The KPK said the transfer was made to protect the suspect’s right to health while the investigation into alleged corruption in the 2023‑2024 hajj quota continues. Yaqut had been detained since March 2026, with a brief period of house arrest in March before being returned to the KPK detention center.
