Mossad: Former chief claims spies infiltrated Iran's Fordow nuclear site
Yossi Cohen, the former director of Israel's Mossad (2015–2021), claimed that Israeli intelligence operatives infiltrated Iran's Fordow uranium enrichment facility ‘many times’ to better understand the site. Speaking at the Galilee Forum, Cohen did not specify the timing or the exact nature of these visits, leaving it unclear if they involved physical entry or advanced remote surveillance.
Cohen also commented on the military strikes conducted by the United States and Israel against Iranian nuclear sites, including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, during a 12-day conflict in June 2025. He described the American bombing of the Fordow facility as ‘the fulfillment of all my dreams.’
Regarding Iran's nuclear capabilities, Cohen asserted that while Iran has enriched uranium to 60% purity, this level is still ‘far from a bomb,’ contrasting with some experts who suggest weapons-grade material could be produced within weeks. While Iran's Atomic Energy Organization characterized the damage from US strikes as ‘limited,’ reports indicate that significant portions of highly enriched uranium were buried or moved following the conflict.
