Former Mukono official charged in Shs38m job scam

Mubarak Sekikubo, the former LC III Chairperson of Nakisunga Sub-County in Mukono District, has been remanded to prison following charges of corruption and criminal conspiracy. The prosecution alleges that between January and June 2025, Sekikubo conspired with Mugerwa Ronald Saaku, a Probation and Welfare Officer for Lugazi Municipality, and Dr Wataba Saadi to defraud Dr Mukisa George William of Shs38 million.

According to investigators, the suspects falsely represented that they could secure Dr Mukisa a government position as a medical officer in Mukono District. The funds were allegedly intended to improperly influence members of the Mukono District Service Commission to facilitate the recruitment. While Sekikubo has been remanded until November 4, 2026, his alleged accomplices, Mugerwa and Dr Wataba, remain at large.
