Corruption and fraud investigations in Uganda

Overview

Legal proceedings have commenced against several individuals in Uganda involving allegations of corruption and fraud.

In Kampala, four individuals—including three Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) officials and a land dealer—were remanded following allegations of a fraudulent land scheme in Munyonyo. The suspects face charges of criminal conspiracy, forgery, abuse of office, and fraudulent procurement of a title regarding a property in Kyadondo Block 255.

In Mukono District, Mubarak Sekikubo, a former LC III Chairperson, was remanded on charges of corruption and criminal conspiracy. Prosecutors allege that Sekikubo and two accomplices conspired to defraud a citizen of Shs38 million by falsely promising to secure a government medical officer position through the improper influence of the Mukono District Service Commission.
