Former NAFCO CEO Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba arrested at Accra airport
Law enforcement officers detained former National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) chief executive Hanan Abdul‑Wahab Aludiba at Accra International Airport on 4 July 2026. Deputy Attorney‑General Dr Justice Srem‑Sai announced on Facebook that the arrest followed an alleged attempt by Aludiba to use false means to withdraw money from a frozen account at Republic Bank.
Aludiba is currently on trial for stealing and causing financial loss to the Republic. Although the High Court had approved his travel to the United Kingdom for a medical appointment, the Attorney‑General plans to seek a court review of that travel order. His defence team, led by lawyer Godfred Yeboah Dame, rejects the allegation, arguing that any previous freezing order had lapsed after earlier charges were withdrawn and that no valid freeze was in place at the time. The lawyers say they will initiate contempt proceedings against the Attorney‑General, Deputy Attorney‑General and the Bureau of National Investigations, and they criticize being denied access to their client after the arrest.
