Overview

The fraud trial of former National Food Buffer Stock Company chief Hanan Abdul‑Wahab Aludiba has entered a new phase. A further procedural dispute arose on 5 August when defence teams petitioned the Chief Justice to halt criminal hearings scheduled during the judicial vacation, arguing the practice breaches constitutional rights.

These developments run alongside earlier rulings – the 29 July order for full evidence disclosure and the denial of a passport‑travel request for Aludiba’s wife – underscoring the judiciary’s focus on procedural fairness as the case proceeds.
