Former President AMLO defends Sheinbaum, denounces US pressure in new letter

Former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) issued a public letter in which he praised President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration and highlighted his own legacy as the foundation of Mexico’s “fourth transformation.” He warned of a “tremendous campaign” against him and urged Mexicans to reject foreign interference, stating, “We will not obey everything that comes from outside.”

In the same letter AMLO criticized the United States Justice Department’s request to detain and extradite ten current and former officials from the state of Sinaloa, describing the move as an attempt to impose external justice on Mexico. He cited historic examples of foreign pressure on Mexican sovereignty and reaffirmed that Mexican justice must be administered domestically.
