Former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi to Meet Congress In‑Charge Bhupesh Baghel Amid Party Rift

Former Punjab chief minister and Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi has agreed to meet the party’s state in‑charge Bhupesh Baghel, signalling a possible reconciliation within the Punjab Congress. The meeting is set for 11 July at the residence of MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh and will include senior leaders Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and the host himself. It comes after weeks of internal tension over leadership roles: the high command retained Amarinder Singh Raja Warring as state president while appointing Channi as head of the election‑campaign committee, a move that left Channi dissatisfied. Both parties aim to resolve organisational disputes and present a united front ahead of the upcoming Punjab assembly elections.
