Romanian fuel prices to fall as refinery output rises
Fuel prices at Romanian service stations fell on Friday, with diesel dropping to 10.57 lei per litre at Petrom and 10.63 lei at OMV, while gasoline fell to 9.42 lei at OMV. The reductions were the first after the adoption of a crisis‑state law and were mirrored across other networks such as Rompetrol, MOL and SOCAR.
Premier Ilie Bolojan said the Petromidia refinery, Romania’s main fuel producer, has increased its output from about 50 % of capacity to roughly 85 % after earlier shortages caused by limited crude supplies. He added that the higher production, together with other government measures, should lead to a tempering and decline of fuel prices across the country.
