Formosa Province completes new bridge over El Pucú stream
Provincial authorities in Formosa, Argentina, launched the final phase of a new bridge spanning the El Pucú stream on Saturday, April 4. Engineer Javier Caffa of the Dirección Provincial de Vialidad described the method used to slide the pre‑assembled metal structure into place with guide rails and counterweights, replacing an aging bridge that served the Sagrado Corazón, El Quebrachito, La Nueva Formosa and other neighborhoods. The project, funded with provincial resources, aims to provide a higher‑capacity, safer crossing. Caffa said work on the approach fills and signage will follow, with a target to open the bridge to traffic within a week if conditions allow.
The bridge is presented as a symbolic example of a responsive provincial government addressing local needs without charging residents, contrasting with national policies that, according to officials, require communities to fund such infrastructure themselves.
