Formula 1 2026 season to feature technical changes and broadcast updates

The 2026 Formula 1 season will introduce significant technical and regulatory shifts. The sport will implement a new technical regulation featuring active aerodynamics instead of DRS, more sustainable fuels, and V6 hybrid engines with a higher electrical component. Additionally, cars are expected to become smaller and lighter to facilitate closer racing.

On the grid, Cadillac will debut as the 11th team, and Sauber will transition into Audi. Regarding broadcasting in Germany, RTL will continue to air select races on free-to-air television in 2026. This follows RTL's previous agreement with Sky to return to Formula 1 coverage in 2024 and 2025. The broadcasting landscape may also be influenced by RTL's proposed 150 million euro acquisition of Sky Deutschland, a deal that has undergone review by the European Commission.
