Formula 1: Verstappen criticizes overtaking style as Red Bull eyes driver changes
Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen has criticized the nature of modern overtaking, suggesting that many maneuvers lack genuine competitive substance. He noted that due to technical factors like reduced drag during following and battery management, many overtakes occur in the middle of straights with minimal effort, creating a ‘yo-yo racing’ effect that may mislead casual fans.
Separately, Red Bull is reportedly preparing for potential driver changes ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix. Due to an injury sustained by Isack Hadjar during a summer break training session, the team may implement a reshuffle. Reports suggest Red Bull could promote Liam Lawson from Racing Bull to the main team, while moving Yuki Tsunoda into Lawson’s place. This would mark Lawson’s return to the senior squad after previously serving as a substitute in 2023.
