Fort Worth police involved in two fatal shootings over weekend
Early Sunday, July 26, 2026, Fort Worth police responded to a domestic disturbance near the intersection of Interstate 30 and Interstate 820. A man armed with a knife entered a West Fort Worth apartment building, refused repeated commands to drop the weapon, and advanced toward officers. Police opened fire, striking the suspect, who was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. No officers were injured.
The previous night, after a brief vehicular chase near Interstate 35 and Risinger Road, officers pursued a suspect wanted on a felony warrant for tampering with an electronic monitoring device. When the suspect stopped his vehicle and appeared to brandish a firearm, officers fired, killing him at the scene. A handgun was recovered from the vehicle. The Major Case Unit is investigating both incidents, and no officers or bystanders were harmed.
