Fortaleza hires veteran coach Paulo Autuori to replace Tiago Carpini
Brazilian Serie B club Fortaleza announced the dismissal of Tiago Carpini and signed 69‑year‑old coach Paulo Autuori on a contract through the end of 2026. The club, sitting fifth with 31 points, hopes the seasoned manager will guide them back to Serie A.
Autuori arrives after a stint with Peru's Sporting Cristal, where he oversaw 46 matches and secured 21 victories, leading the team into the 2026 Copa Libertadores group stage. His résumé includes the 1995 Brazilian league title with Botafogo, the 1997 Libertadores with Cruzeiro, and the 2005 Libertadores and FIFA Club World Cup with São Paulo, as well as domestic honours in Peru, Qatar and Colombia. He will be assisted by Bernardo Franco and fitness coach Fabio Eira as Fortaleza prepares for the decisive phase of its promotion campaign.
