Fortaleza police arrest man suspected of inducing suicide of law student

Authorities in Fortaleza, Brazil, are investigating the death of 22-year-old law student Isabelle Caracristi, who was found dead in the courtyard of her residential building on September 13. Preliminary forensic reports from Pefoce indicate the cause of death was multiple trauma consistent with a voluntary fall from the building's 23rd-floor rooftop. Toxicology results were negative for drugs or alcohol, and forensic analysis confirmed the victim was not pregnant.

João Munhoz Neto, 34, the victim's boyfriend, was arrested preventively on September 22. He is under investigation for psychological violence, threats, and inducing suicide. Police reports suggest a pattern of controlling and abusive behavior, including restricting the victim's movements. Furthermore, investigators are looking into potential obstruction of justice, as the suspect allegedly attempted to clean the apartment, destroy evidence, and place the property for sale shortly after the death.
