Fortnite launches Fortnitemares 2026 with horror collaborations

Epic Games has launched the Fortnitemares 2026 event, a major Halloween-themed update for Fortnite featuring high-profile horror collaborations. The event introduces a significant integration of the ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ franchise, including a fully playable Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza location where players can encounter and fight animatronics or even take control of them.

Additionally, the update features a collaboration with ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street.’ Players can encounter Freddy Krueger as a boss in the new Nightmare Neighborhood area; defeating him grants the ‘Freddy’s Nightmare Claws,’ a weapon that allows for short-range teleportation and melee attacks.

The event also introduces new gameplay mechanics known as “glitches,” which provide tactical advantages such as movement invisibility, critical damage boosts at low health, and environmental camouflage. Other updates include the return of the Horde Rush mode, new weapons like the Bonebreaker Submachine Gun, and various themed map expansions.
