Fortuna Düsseldorf appoints Samir Arabi as new sport director after Mislintat exit
Following Fortuna Düsseldorf's relegation to Germany's 3. Liga, the club's supervisory board announced the termination of sport director Sven Mislintat's contract. Mislintat, hired in December as successor to Klaus Allofs, left after six months by mutual agreement amid internal tensions and the inability to execute his restructuring plans.
The board named Samir Arabi, formerly a long‑time executive at Arminia Bielefeld, as the new sport director. Arabi, 47, brings extensive experience managing promotions and relegations in the lower divisions and will oversee a rapid squad rebuild as the team prepares for the upcoming season with a markedly reduced roster. Trainer Alexander Ende remains in his role, while the club's finance director position also faces uncertainty because the existing contract does not cover 3. Liga participation.
