Regional governments launch diverse entrepreneurship and social support programs

Various regional and national governments across Latin America and Spain are implementing diverse financial and educational programs to support entrepreneurship and social welfare.

In Mexico City, Clara Brugada Molina has launched the ‘Capital Semilla para la Autonomía Económica de las Mujeres’ program, investing 100 million pesos to provide 25,000 peso non-reimbursable grants to 4,000 women entrepreneurs. Similarly, in Morelia, Seimujer is offering electronic payment terminals to women to facilitate business digitalization.

In Chile, FOSIS is providing funding and training to entrepreneurs in Mariquina, Máfil, and Puerto Natales. Additionally, Sercotec has launched a 2.5 billion peso fund to assist unemployed individuals in transitioning to entrepreneurship. In the Los Ríos region, a collaboration between the regional government and ACTI aims to boost technological innovation.

In Spain, Valencia de Don Juan approved a budget modification of 1.17 million euros for 27 municipal improvement projects. In Almuñécar, the local government is providing rental assistance to young people, while Las Rozas has seen 33 new business projects through its Entrepreneur Attention Point.

Other initiatives include Paraguay’s Coopemypes program, which offers up to 9 million USD in financing for MSMEs via Taiwanese cooperation, and Argentina’s ‘Té Conecto’ and ‘Actitud Emprendedora’ programs designed to build networks and provide business modeling tools for women and local residents.
