FOSIS entrepreneurship programs in Chile
Entities: FOSIS · Alejandro Fernández · Javier Díaz · Ñuble · SernamEG Tarapacá
Overview
The FOSIS agency is implementing entrepreneurship and training programs across various Chilean regions to support vulnerable populations and foster economic independence.
In the Maule region, specifically in Longaví, a group of rural women entrepreneurs received equipment, training, and a processing room through the "Emprendamos Grupal Autogestionado" program. This investment aims to help them meet sanitary requirements to expand their market reach from local fairs to larger cities like Santiago.
Expanding these efforts into 2026, FOSIS launched initiatives in the Ñuble region targeting 1,650 individuals across 21 communes. With an investment of approximately 1.7 billion Chilean pesos, the "Emprendamos Semilla" and "Emprendamos" programs provide training in business management, formalization, and commercial channels.
During its 2025-2026 Participatory Public Account, FOSIS reported that over 57,000 people participated in entrepreneurship programs in 2025, while 91,000 individuals accessed state-subsidized microcredits. Looking ahead to 2026, the agency plans to increase slots for the "Emprendamos" program, strengthen the "Chile Trabaja" employability initiative, and introduce the "Emprendamos Emergencia" line to assist entrepreneurs affected by weather events. Furthermore, the agency is pursuing social innovation through "Innova FOSIS" and food recovery via "EcoMercados Solidarios."
