Fossoli Elderly Care Project Secures Regional Funding as Cerveteri Council Weighs Social Consortium Approval
The assisted‑social centre planned for the former Casa del Popolo in Fossoli, Emilia‑Romagna, has remained inactive for years because of uncertain bureaucratic classification. Cooperative Scaiper president Ilario De Nittis said the model would offer a non‑medicalised space where seniors can stay socially active while accessing care only when needed. The regional government has now opened a €5 million call for innovative social‑economy ecosystems, giving the project a possible source of financing and a chance to become a replicable model.
In Lazio, the municipal council of Cerveteri is set to decide on 21 July whether to approve a newly drafted Social Consortium that would coordinate services for vulnerable residents across Cerveteri and neighboring Ladispoli. Ladispoli already approved the consortium unanimously. Proponents argue the partnership, backed by the regional administration, will streamline administrative structures and improve support for fragile populations, while critics warn of past delays and the need for broader stakeholder involvement.
