Foton Mobility expands zero‑emission bus training and manufacturing in Australia

Foton Mobility Distribution (FMD), led by founder and CEO Neil Wang, is rolling out a national training programme for electric and hydrogen bus technicians, fleet managers and operators. Partnerships have been formalised with TAFE campuses across New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania, as well as with Federation University and Deakin University, to embed zero‑emission skills into vocational curricula.

At the Sydney Bus Expo, FMD displayed both battery‑electric and diesel‑powered buses and announced plans to open a bus‑building facility in Nowra, New South Wales. The outlet aims to achieve around 70 % local content by mid‑next year, including a carbon‑fibre city‑bus body. Wang highlighted a competitively priced $200‑000 Cummins‑powered diesel coach made possible by a joint‑venture factory in China, and confirmed orders for electric city buses in Transport for NSW livery for Keolis Downer on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
