Four arrested in Bargny drug trafficking operation in Senegal

Police in Bargny, Senegal, detained four individuals on suspicion of possessing and distributing crack cocaine and Indian hemp. The investigation began after officers conducting a helmet‑check at the Bargny round‑about stopped a Jakarta‑brand motorcycle rider from Rufisque, who was found with one gram of crack concealed in a condom box. The rider said he obtained the drug from a foreign national through a woman living in Rufisque’s Cité Millionnaire and was to deliver it to Thiès for a payment of 15,000 CFA francs.

Following the rider’s statement, investigators searched the Cité Millionnaire, apprehending two more suspects and recovering an additional gram of crack in the main suspect’s bedroom. The woman admitted purchasing the drug from an overseas supplier for her companion. A subsequent raid in the Parcelles Assainies district led to the arrest of the alleged supplier, who was found with 1.5 kilograms of Indian hemp. All four suspects were forwarded to the public prosecutor, and the seized narcotics and the motorcycle were placed under seal.
